Consider buying a putting green to practice at home or at the office
There are a lot of accessories that are designed to help improve your golf game; one of the most useful is a home practice green. This will allow you to work on your putting which will go a long way towards improving your game. There several reasons that you would want to get a practice green but they all come down to improving your game.
The obvious reason that you want to get a putting green for your home or office is that putting is the part of the game that people tend to need the most practice with. In general the best way to lower your score for a round of golf is to improve your putting. The problem is that this can be hard to work on while you are actually playing golf since you only spend a very small amount of time on the green. You will find that you will improve more if you get additional practice.
Another reason to get a putting green is that it is the sort of thing that you can use even if you only have a few minutes. For example if you have five minutes between meetings and a putting green in your office you can take several practice putts. Over time this practice will add up to make you a much better putter. One of the reasons that most people don't get as much practice as they should is because of the amount of time that they have to invest just to go out and practice, this is not an issue if you have your own green.
Of course there are disadvantages to practicing on your own putting green. The biggest of these is that the green is always the same so once you get used to putting on it you will start to think that you are a better putter than you actually are. The other problem is that if you are putting indoors you will not have to deal with the changing weather conditions. Nevertheless you will still benefit from using the green to work on your swing and get the mechanics right.
If you are going to get a putting green to practice on you will have to think about which type you are going to get. If you have one that you put in your back yard you will get a much larger practice green that will be more like putting on a real course. However you will also likely find that an indoor green will get a lot more use, which is critical if you are going to improve your putting. Ultimately you will have to decide which is the best option for you based on how much space you have and how you intend to use your green.
