What to wear on a golf course: outfit, sunglasses, gloves

When you play golf it is important to make sure that you dress appropriately. While it is important to make sure that you wear clothes that look good you also have to make sure that they are comfortable. The right clothes are not that hard to pick out, they are called golf shirts for a reason, but you there are some things that you need to keep in mind.

The first thing that you are going to have to consider when you are deciding what to wear on the golf course is the dress code. Almost all courses have a dress code of some sort. The private clubs will have a more strict dress code with the more expensive clubs generally being more strict than the less expensive ones. You are going to have to find out what the dress code is at the club that you are intending to play at. The big thing will be making sure that you have the right shoes; very few clubs allow shoes with spikes anymore.

In general you will find that most people wear a pair of khakis and a golf shirt when they play. This will be comfortable while at the same time meeting the dress code of most clubs. You may want to wear shorts while you play if it is a hot day, whether you can do this or not will depend on the rules at your club. If you are going to wear shorts you are probably going to want to go with a pair of khaki shorts.

If you are playing on a cooler day you are going to want to dress warmer than you would on a hot day, usually this is done with a sweater. A jacket may be an option but it will interfere with your swing so very few golfers wear one. You will however want to keep a light rain jacket in your golf bag, the weather can change very quickly and the last thing that you want is to get stuck out on the course in the pouring rain with no rain jacket. Most golfers will finish their round even if it does start to rain so be prepared for this.

There are a few other accessories that you are going to want to have when you are golfing the most common will be gloves. Most golfers will wear at least one glove some will wear a glove on both hands. Either way make sure that you get gloves that are comfortable, leather is the most common. You are also going to want to have sunglasses with you while you are playing golf. You can be sure that at some point during your round you will be looking into the sun, you are going to want to protect your eyes.
